Mpho Sishuta’s journey to her role has been anything but conventional. But then that’s Mpho all over. “I started out in fashion journalism and the media, so moving into supply was a big shift. I’ve found it incredibly rewarding though. I get to build relationships, solve problems, and make a real impact, pretty much every day.”
Mpho joined Reckitt through a professional referral and quickly discovered a role that matched her energy and passion for people. “It’s my job to make sure customers feel happy before, during and after they’ve placed an order. I’ll sort any issues and do a bit of firefighting when needed. But it’s really all about creating positive connections.”
Working in Supply for a leading supermarket is fast paced. Mpho thrives on this. “I’ve become more structured, adaptable and resourceful. I’ve learned to prioritise effectively and work across different teams. They’re skills that carry over into my personal life.”
One of the most meaningful parts of Mpho’s role is her involvement in our employee resource groups (ERGs), especially those focused on race, ethnicity and LGBTQ+ inclusion.
ERGs have given me the chance to connect with people from different backgrounds and do things that help others feel valued. I know how important it is to be seen and belong. I moved to the UK from South Africa when I was 11. That taught me how powerful inclusion is. I want others to feel that too.
Reckitt has given Mpho the space to grow. She’s developed new skills and found confidence in areas she never expected. “I’m a self-proclaimed extrovert, for sure. Being around people, sharing stories and lifting others up is what energises me. Now I’ve got the platform to do that.”
Outside work, Mpho continues to channel her energy into community and creativity. She volunteers as a radio presenter and recently joined Park Run. “Being around people gives me energy. I guess that’s why customer service is such a great fit for me. Whether it’s resolving issues or organising events, I love creating that positivity.”
