World Toilet Day 2020: sustainable sanitation and climate change
Every year, on 19th November, Harpic takes part in World Toilet Day as a time to especially raise awareness of the global sanitation crisis and encourage action.
Today is World Toilet Day! It is a United Nations Observance that’s about taking action to tackle the sanitation crisis and contribute towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG6): water and sanitation for all by 2030. This year’s World Toilet Day theme covers sustainable sanitation - which also explores how toilets, access to safely managed sanitation systems, and good hygiene practices protect our health.
During the ongoing pandemic, accessibility to proper sanitation, water, and hygiene practices are critical to curb the spread of disease and infection.
This World Toilet Day, Harpic has partnered with #TOGETHERLIVE, a movement that couples music and film to get to the heart of issues and drive change in the areas that need immediate support - particularly Brazil, Mexico, and India. Look out for more information here.
In India, Harpic Mission Paani, a five-year collaborative programme, continues to work at reinstating the importance of water in maintaining hygienic practices and highlighting the increased urgency for efficient usage and conservation. Harpic Mission Paani is looking to create an ecosystem which will help in driving behaviour change towards water conservation and sanitation. Today, Harpic India will be launching a first-of-its-kind ‘Paani Anthem’ (Swachhta aur Paani) as a way to raise awareness and mobilise action towards water conservation and improvement of hygiene and sanitation.

Harpic’s commitment to doing the right thing
Harpic has reached almost 90 million people globally through educational communications around health and hygiene.
Harpic is committed to taking action to contribute towards tackling the global sanitation crisis through its joint partnerships including SATO,LIXIL, Sanergy, #TOGETHERLIVE and Water.org.
Harpic is particularly thankful for its partnership with Water.org. This partnership is empowering families in India, Indonesia, and Kenya with the tools they need to fund their own sanitation solutions. The partnership will change the lives of 925,000 people over five years, particularly women and children living in poverty. The partnership will bring sustainable water supply, improved sanitation and healthy hygiene practices.
