David Croft has been shaping responsible business practices for decades. Now he’s leading our global sustainability agenda. “I’ve worked in public health and for global brands, but Reckitt’s mission to create positive change gives me something I wouldn’t find anywhere else.”
The world expects action in this space, and David’s keen to deliver it. “Consumers want sustainable, responsibly sourced products that lessen environmental impact. So we’re working to cut carbon emissions, reduce plastic, and ensure suppliers meet high standards. For example, we’re focused on ensuring the latex we use for Durex is deforestation-free and supports fair livelihoods for farmers.”
David’s career began in public health and environmental protection. “I guess I was working on sustainability before it was even called that. But as the space has grown, so have I. We all have to step up because the stakes are higher. Consumers and investors see how we’re performing and the cost of not doing enough is rising.”
Sustainability isn’t just about managing risk though. David sees it as a strategic advantage too. “We’re building a resilience into our supply chain, product portfolio, and business. That creates more impact and more opportunities for us, so we can keep creating positive change for the communities and planet we care about."
Since joining us, David has continued to grow as both a leader and a communicator.
Reckitt gives me the platform to make a difference, and influencing and engaging others is critical to this. Making complex topics understandable is part of the job. And good communication matters personally to me too.
David’s also learned the importance of personal resilience, and at the heart of everything he does is a deep sense of care for his family and the impact he can make.
“We all need energy to be at our best, so I always make sure I’ve time for family, for exercise, for wellbeing. Doing all this is an investment in ourselves and the future.”
