That is why we are driving energy and water efficiency across our sites, products and suppliers more water and energy efficient. By increasing our use of renewable energy and designing for a lower-carbon economy, we are delivering on our belief that a healthier planet means healthier lives.

Climate change
Becoming Net Zero across our entire value chain by 2040. We have set near-term science-based targets to reduce our operational (Scope 1 and 2) emissions by 65% by 2030 and by 50% by 2030 for our Scope 3 emissions.
Water positive
Becoming water positive in water-stressed areas. We focus our water stewardship programmes in regions exposed to greatest water stress, identified using the World Resource Institute’s (WRI) Aqueduct Water Risk Atla.

Protecting the resources our brands depend on by identifying and managing our impacts across our value chain through targeted interventions. Our impacts on biodiversity span the full product lifecycle from raw material sourcing to consumer use and disposal.

Driving action on climate and health
At Reckitt, we have advocated to put health at the heart of the climate conversation. The climate x health nexus is where Reckitt will play a key role. COP28 hosted the first ever Health Day which saw more than 40 million health professionals join the WHO’s call for health to be prioritised during climate negotiations. At COP28, we published new research ‘Bringing climate change home through health’ to understand how people are adapting their hygiene and health behaviours in response to the effects of climate change. Through our brands and value chains, we aim to reach people everywhere, enabling their health and hygiene and helping combat climate change.

Restoring water security for communities and ecosystems
Working in partnership with WWF, Agua Capital and other local organisations in Mexico, our water stewardship initiatives combine environmental restoration with community-focused action. Activities include installing rainwater harvesting systems in schools, improving access to clean water and sanitation, delivering hygiene education, and restoring forests and wetlands to support groundwater recharge.
To date, the programme has supported more than 51,000 people, installed 35 rainwater harvesting systems in schools and contributed to the restoration of over 270 hectares of land. These actions help reduce pressure on shared water resources, improve biodiversity and strengthen resilience to climate-related water risks.
Measuring our biodiversity impact
We rely on natural resources in our supply chain to make our flagship brands – from fresh water to latex for Durex condoms, palm oil for soaps and fragrances for our perfumes. In line with our purpose to protect, heal and nurture in the pursuit of a cleaner, healthier world, our biodiversity strategy supports a nature-positive future.
We're partnering with Nature-based Insetting (NbI), co-founded by world-leading biodiversity experts at the University of Oxford, to measure the impact of our priority natural raw materials, such as latex, using the Biodiversity Impact Metric (BIM). Applying the BIM methodology allows us to evaluate the benefits of different interventions on biodiversity, informing the actions that protect and restore biodiversity while delivering on critical priorities such as sustainable livelihoods.
