Reckitt continues to support the most vulnerable when disaster hits

As a member of the Disaster Relief Alliance, Reckitt plays a critical role in helping the British Red Cross to reach communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters globally.

The Disaster Relief Alliance (DRA) is an active community of businesses who invest in the future of humanitarian action. Together, they support the British Red Cross to help vulnerable communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from crisis. This year alone the DRA has supported the British Red Cross to respond rapidly to 10 emergencies around the world. The scale and intensity of humanitarian need across the globe is intensifying year on year. Disasters, conflicts, and crises are unfolding on an unforeseen scale - and often, the world’s most vulnerable communities are hardest hit.

In June 2022, record breaking floods hit Pakistan, impacting around 33 million people and destroying over 1 million homes. It is estimated that 25% of the country is still underwater and 3.6 million acres of crops have been affected. Reckitt has committed to support the most vulnerable through donations of our products and £460,000 (over 100 million Pakistani rupees) to the relief efforts via the British Red Cross Pakistan Floods Appeal , The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, and local NGO partner The Citizens Foundations (TCF).

In this critical time for Pakistan, it was imperative for us to respond, I am proud that out teams have come through. We worked with our partner organizations to address issues like water-borne diseases and provide for germ protection.

General Manager, Reckitt Pakistan

Kashan Hasan continues to say,

"With the global team, we have come together to ensure children can get back to schools quickly as well as providing access to housing, sanitation, clean water and medical assistance. This was a joint effort, and we are very grateful to everyone who enabled this magnitude of support.”

This year Reckitt has also made contributions to support Ukraine and Australia.

At Reckitt we believe that access to the highest quality hygiene, wellness and nourishment should be a right and not a privilege. The fight to maximise access is most pressing in vulnerable communities and especially at times of crisis. I am therefore proud that working through our ongoing disaster relief partner, the British Red Cross, Reckitt has been able to provide support throughout 2022 to get vital aid to those who need it most.
