India is one of the world’s fastest growing self-care markets, shaped by a new generation of young, empowered and increasingly discerning consumers. Following a strong economic recovery since COVID-19 and easing inflation, the country presents significant opportunities for businesses like ours that understand its changing consumer needs and extraordinary market diversity.

This exciting development was clear on a recent visit to the country, where our business continues to grow at pace through a long-term focus on consumers, innovation, brands and execution.

“India continues to be one of Reckitt's most dynamic markets. In a market of enormous scale and opportunity, our team is using data, technology and deep consumer understanding to expand access, drive growth and put better health in more hands, every day.”

With a population of 1.4 billion people and 11 million stores, India presents a uniquely complex retail environment that blends digital and traditional sales. While we shipped 125 million online orders in 2024, we’re also heavily invested in industry-leading route-to-market capabilities.

And although the top 2,000 urban towns generate more than 60% of Reckitt India's sales, the growth opportunities across rural markets are significant.

To reach India's diverse retail landscape, Reckitt has taken a highly targeted, data-led approach. Innovations span store database geotagging and GPS-enabled servicing that enables 50,000 sales visits each week; AI- powered assortment tools that analyse millions of transactions to create outlet-specific recommendations, helping optimise ranging, availability and shelf performance; and technology-enabled execution that allows faster replenishment, improved visibility and stronger sales performance across the network.

By improving distribution reach and reducing servicing distances, Reckitt has strengthened availability, accelerated replenishment and unlocked new growth opportunities.

And beyond the numbers, Reckitt has helped drive meaningful change in health and hygiene behaviours across the country through powerful partnerships and consistent communications, whilst advances such as increasing toilet access, and support for the Divya washing machine innovation, have created positive outcomes at scale.

India’s growth story is ultimately about understanding the changing needs and ambitions of consumers, reaching them in the places where they shop, and making trusted self-care solutions more accessible.

For Reckitt, that means continuing to combine local insight, innovation and technology with the strength of our brands and partnerships. As India’s consumers and markets evolve, our ambition is to grow alongside them, helping more people access the products, knowledge and solutions that support healthier lives, while building a stronger, more sustainable business for the long term.
